On our last day touring Iceland, we stopped at Seljalandsfoss waterfall before heading to the Reykjanes Peninsula. There, we took some time to relax at the Blue Lagoon. We concluded our day with a Northern Lights cruise.

Shortly after departing the hotel, we made a pit stop at Seljalandsfoss, a renowned Icelandic waterfall known for its stunning beauty and the distinctive path that allows visitors to walk behind its cascading waters. Given the cold and windy conditions today, we opted not to take the path behind the falls.

As we traveled through the Reykjanes Peninsula, we saw expansive lava fields stretching around us. The moss-covered jagged rocks hinted at the area’s volcanic past. The rugged nature of the landscape, almost like an alien terrain, left a lasting impression on me.

The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa in Iceland, famed for its milky blue waters contrasting with black volcanic rocks. Its naturally warm, salty waters, rich in minerals, not only provide therapeutic benefits but also made Mrs. G. and her sister float.
After recounting some of our day’s adventures, I must take a moment to commend our tour leader, Rosalinda, and our driver, Björgvin, for their outstanding efforts throughout the trip.

Rosalinda, our tour guide, truly embodied the spirit of our Icelandic journey. Whether she was explaining the geology of a particular volcano or telling stories from Icelandic folklore, her energy was contagious. Yet, beyond her expertise, what set her apart was her genuine warmth and care for every traveler. Rosalinda was more than a tour guide; she became our link to Iceland, helping us to understand and truly appreciate every moment.

On the meandering roads of Iceland, Björgvin stood out not as a mere driver but as a beacon of calm and composure. With a comforting smile and eyes that seemed familiar with the landscape, he skillfully managed every turn, hill, and weather obstacle. Besides his driving skills, he had a wealth of knowledge about local landmarks, frequently highlighting them and recounting tales about various places. In his capable hands, our trip was safe and smooth, letting us enjoy the wonders of Iceland.

The Northern Lights cruise served as the magnificent conclusion to our time in Iceland. Although we had intended to set sail on our first day, the weather had other plans. But, this evening promised better conditions.

During our boat trip, away from the lights of Reykjavik, we were treated to a clear view of the night sky. We identified several constellations and even saw the Milky Way and some meteors. The highlight, though, was catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights. They appeared as a long green cloud that lasted for about 10 minutes. While I wasn’t able to capture a good photo, another person on the boat shared the picture above. They might not have been as vibrant as I’d anticipated, but witnessing them was truly special.

Today marked our final day of touring. While we prepare to head home tomorrow, we’re already looking forward to our return to Iceland. To everyone who has read my blog, thank you for joining us on this journey.
